Why WhatsApp banned your number
Meta bans numbers that violate the WhatsApp Business Terms — most commonly bulk messaging from a personal account, scraped contact lists, or spam complaints crossing the threshold.
Step 1 — Don't panic, file the appeal
- Open WhatsApp on the banned number.
- Tap Request a review on the ban screen.
- Enter your phone number with the country code.
- Submit the verification code WhatsApp sends.
- Add a clear, polite explanation (template below).
Unban request template (copy and customise)
Hi WhatsApp Support,
My WhatsApp number {{phone}} has been banned. I believe this was an error. I use this number for {{purpose — e.g. customer support for my e-commerce store / family communication}}.
I have never used unauthorised third-party apps, bulk-sender extensions, or sent unsolicited messages. All my contacts saved me on their phones before messaging.
I respect WhatsApp's Terms of Service and request a review of the ban. Please restore access at your earliest convenience.
Thank you,
{{your name}}
Step 2 — Move to the official API
If the number was banned for legitimate business messaging, the fix is migrating to the WhatsApp Business API — bulk sending is allowed there, with approved templates and opt-in.

How long does the appeal take?
- 24–48 hours for most appeals
- 3–7 days if Meta requests additional documentation
- Permanent if your usage clearly violated the Acceptable Use Policy
How to never get banned again
- Stop using "WhatsApp bulk sender" Chrome extensions
- Don't message scraped or purchased contact lists
- Move all business broadcasts to the official API
- Capture opt-in for every contact before the first message
